Informal Parent Support Group

First Thursdays of each month             9:30 am to 11:30 am

They usually meet at Cindy Villarreal’s home in Riverstone but occasionally will have tours scheduled.  They will probably tour the Brookwood Community in December.  

Optional:  Bring a breakfasty dish to share if you wish!

Cindy lives in the Riverstone Subdivision  off Highway 6 South  (subdivision behind the Krogers/Kohl’s area)

Partial directions:  from Highway 59 to Hwy. 6 south 

Either Right or Left onto South University Blvd.  (aka Fm 1092/Murphy Road), depending on which direction you are travelling.  But basically turn in the direction of Krogers.Left onto LJ ParkwayRight onto Vintage Trail;Right onto Riley Way Lane

Meet and greet other parents of school-aged children with special needs, age 2ish to 21ish, enrolled in any school district in Fort Bend (or surrounding) Counties.

ECI/PPCD, ES, MS, or HS’s special education programinclusion-type classes/resource/life skills-type programshome-school programs, specialty schools or private schools.

The children generally present with IQs of 70 or below, Down Syndrome, intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities such as Autism/PDD/Asperger’s; Cerebral Palsy; Muscular Dystrophy; or other chromosomal issues (regardless of IQ).

Topics may include:

Educational or personal successes/concerns/challenges

Summer programs/after-school programs

New developments in treatment or training

Behavioral management issues and resources

Transitioning from school to adult life

IEPs/Evaluationswhatever else is on your mind.

Come with topics you’d like to discuss and enjoy a small continental breakfast.

RSVP is appreciated but not necessary. 

Let them know ASAP what you are interested in discussing and they will bring information and resources.
